Daily Prompt
During my earlier years, I harbored a strong aversion to greens. Spinach, kale, peas—if it was green and sitting on my plate, I treated it like an enemy I was being forced to confront. The flavors felt too strong, the textures too strange, and I was convinced adults only ate them because they had to, not because they actually enjoyed them. Still, I was expected to finish every bite, so I’d sit there negotiating with myself as if I were making a high‑stakes deal.
Somewhere along the way, though, everything changed. Maybe my taste buds finally matured, or maybe I learned how to prepare them in ways that didn’t feel like punishment. Whatever the reason, those same greens I once dreaded have become some of my favorite foods. Spinach sautéed with garlic, kale tossed into a hearty salad, peas folded into a creamy pasta—now they’re comforting, flavorful, and surprisingly satisfying.
It’s funny how the things we resist the most as kids often become the things we appreciate the most as adults. Sometimes, our tastes grow right along with us.
Hello again, Betty!! ☺️
You are right, some of our tastes really grow along with us. 👍 That happened to me too, but with music. I used to listen to a very small selection of music. Now, my taste is gradually growing along with me, especially this year, but slowly. I now love listening to different music, as long as it’s good and energetic. 🎧🎶
I love peas and other green vegetables! 🫛 When I eat peas, I usually eat it with rice and peas together, and it’s so delicious. I love boiling the peas, drying them, and eating them while they’re still hot! 😁
That’s wonderful your taste in music has grown!🎧🎶
I like peas with rice also! Yum! Thanks for the sharing!☺️
Thank you so much, Betty! I really appreciate your kind words!
Of course, you’re most welcome! ☺️
I have finished planning for the week! I hope my plans go smoothly. 🙏
