How Language Has Shaped My Life

English is my primary language, and it has significantly influenced my life in ways I did not fully appreciate until I matured. It is the language through which I learned to articulate myself, comprehend the world, and establish connections with others. It has provided access to education, literature, communication, and opportunities that might have been different if I had been raised with a different linguistic background.

English has also served as the foundation of my writing voice — the manner in which I reflect, encourage, and inspire others. It is the language that contains my thoughts, prayers, stories, and personal development.

I studied Spanish independently, and although I was not immersed in the culture nor surrounded by native speakers, the experience imparted an important lesson: language functions as a bridge. Even without full fluency, learning another language broadens one’s perspective, enhances empathy, and reminds us of the world’s vastness. However, as the saying goes — use it or lose it. Without genuine interaction, vocabulary diminishes, although the appreciation endures.

English, however, remains the language that has profoundly influenced me — the one that continues to shape my cognition, communication, and perception of my role in the world.

    Betty!!! Hi! 🤗

Language, indeed, functions as a bridge, and learning another language reminds us of the world’s vastness. So, you’re right about it 👍

Although English isn’t my mother language, I use it a lot. It gave me many opportunities to communicate with foreign people, and it profoundly influenced me positively.

I like the saying: use it or lose it. 👍

Yesterday was very peaceful, with cold breeze blowing through my house all day, and the weather was a little bit colder at 28°C. I’m so grateful for that! 🙏

    Enjoy your wonderful week! ☺️

Thank you, Aptivi. I am pleased that the post resonated with you and that you have had the opportunity to utilize the English language.

I believe that speaking more than one language offers numerous benefits. Knowledge is power, and being multilingual provides many advantages, especially in today’s interconnected world. 🌍

Yes, utilize it or forfeit it. This statement accurately reflects the functioning of the brain. Repetition remains essential.🧠

Thanks so much! I will do my best to enjoy the week! You also! Enjoy the rest of your day!🎇🥳🧁

        You’re most welcome, Betty ☺️

You’re right, being multilingual comes with a great amount of benefits and advantages, and knowledge is, indeed, power, but we have to either utilize it and repeat it, or we have to forfeit it. Well said! 👍

You’re most welcome, Betty! Of course, I’ll enjoy the rest of my day! I’ll try my best! ☺️🧁

  2. Yes, some languages we learn, and some languages become home. It sounds like English has been both your voice as well as your compass.
