Reflection on Past Worries

In earlier years, I often found myself troubled by the perceived inhumanity of breakups. The dissolution of a relationship, whether between men or women, is experienced through different perspectives, yet it invariably leaves individuals in a vulnerable state—mentally and emotionally. What concerned me most was the ease with which some people seemed able to walk away, indifferent to the emotional impact left behind.

Breakups, by their very nature, fracture the emotional fabric of those involved. Closure becomes essential, for feelings and emotions are fragile. Compassion, too, is indispensable. A simple act of care—such as checking in, offering encouragement, or affirming the other person’s worth—can help ease the transition and prevent grief from overwhelming the one left behind. Even as lives move forward separately, the willingness to look back and extend kindness can make all the difference.

Though relationships are not always permanent, they need not end in cruelty or disregard. Departing on good terms, with understanding and compassion, ensures that neither party is left to struggle in isolation. To wonder about the other person’s well-being is humane; to ignore it is to risk leaving them in despair.

I once worried deeply about this lack of humanity—about whether I had left someone in grief, or whether others cared enough to offer support after separation. Yet I no longer carry that worry. I have come to understand that concern alone cannot alter the way the world works. Worrying only perpetuates hopelessness. Instead, I have chosen to release that burden. While I cannot control how others choose to depart, I can control how I conduct myself: with compassion, with dignity, and with peace.

Betty!!! 🙋 Your reflection is very accurate 👍 Concern alone is not enough to alter the way the world works. I also agree about the breakups, they fracture the emotions of those involved.

    Have a great Tuesday! ☺️
