There’s something hauntingly beautiful about the idea of crossing from one state of being to another — from chaos to calm, from memory to presence. The image above captures that tension: a woman seated at the edge of a cracked precipice, facing a doorway of light that divides storm from serenity. It feels like the moment between letting go and stepping forward.
Today’s prompt asks: “If you had a time machine and could send one message to your past self, what would it say?” It’s a fun invitation to play with imagination; however, as I move forward, I prefer to stay fully rooted in the present rather than sending messages backward into the past. I desire to avoid creating fiction in my mind — emotionally or mentally — because the present moment is where my life actually unfolds.
My “time machine” is simply memory, and while it can take me back to places I’ve already been, I have no desire to return there or send messages to who I once was. I deal with the now, and I let it move me forward wherever it chooses to lead!
A beautiful reminder to keep our eyes on today, where God is at work in our lives. May He continue to guide each step forward with His peace and purpose.
Thank you for reading and for your engaging comments, Willie! Yes, God is always present and in every detail! Thank you for your beautiful blessing!🕊️🙏

as i’ve grown older, i recognize the wisdom of this view. once we are firmly embedded in the present of our lives, along with the dependents that are in it, we don’t want to do anything that compromises it in any way – including doing something in the past.
still, i will be honest in that i would make 2 or maybe 3 special exceptions but that would open up a massive can of worms. great post!
Mike
